Art’s Landscaping was established in 1964 in Goderich, Ontario, when Art Bourdeau moved his family from Windsor to Goderich to work as a fulltime welder at Champion Road Machinery. By 1968, Art had worked his way up to a Supervisor position as well as President of Local 1863 of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers Union. However, during the evenings and weekends, Art was busy landscaping and snowplowing on the side. In 1974, Art left his full time job at Champion and went into business for himself.
Rick Turner, Art and Dorothy’s son, has worked full time at Art’s Landscaping since 1977 and the has grown to provide a full range of services including asphalt paving, retaining walls, fencing, and a retail garden centre. Today, Rick and his wife, Joanne, continue to run the business as owners.
A former one-man operation now employs over 40 full time and seasonal employees.
